The
Wisdom of Sekhmet
by David E.
Hopper
Hathor, the Egyptian sky
goddess and daughter of the sun god Ra, was usually represented as a
cow. As the goddess of love and joy, dance and song she looks after
mothers and children.
She nurtured the living and carried the dead to the
underworld.
The eye of
the sun god Ra is identified with Hathor. When Ra grew old,
humankind began to plot against him. Hearing of this, the enraged
god decided to send the divine Eye. The eye took the form of Hathor
who, as the lioness Sekhmet or “powerful one”, threw herself at all
the wicked men and women and killed them in a massive bloodbath.
Eventually Ra decided enough carnage had been inflicted and called
an end to the slaughter. Only by Ra’s intervention was Sekhmet
prevented from destroying
humanity.

In the Egyptian Mystery
School, Sekhmet,.. has been feared for her destructive power, yet
she is also associated with healing. When we awaken to the power of
Sekhmet within us, we become self-confident and aware. She awakens
in us the will and energy we need to meet the challenges and changes
of this extraordinary time.

When we were at Karnak
and the Cairo museum in October on our “14 Days of Magic” journey
through Egypt, I and many others in our group saw Sekhmet as a
symbol and metaphor for how we approach our lives. The energies of
Sekhmet represents gentleness backed up by firmness. The Ancients
anthropomorphized or cast energy into crystalline structures,
believing there was an entity behind it. In this case, it was
Sekhmet. In the
thousands of years hence, we have evolved on the next turn of the
spiral. Here in the 21st century, we are becoming
consciously awake human beings and are claiming our place through
our conscious instruments…we are now those crystalline
structures that radiate conscious awareness of light of love. Our
crystalline structure – composed of a fully integrated mind,
emotions and physical form is an instrument of our higher selves
that is aware as it is mindful that its thoughts are energy and have
a life of their own. This “integrated personality” of thought and
action must be aligned with a heart that is guided by mindfulness
and love. This is the innate strength we have and is a force and
energy that the dark forces cannot touch.
The firmness, which
Sekhmet represents, is strength of will that is backed up by love.
When we focus our energies in the presence of the moment, we become
that changed energy by our actions. By practicing absolute
integrity, honesty and love in our lives, these too are energies
generated by our will. We must be firm in our actions, and our
resolve but knowing that our confidence is backed up from a higher
place and a frame of reference from our past experiences.
Our crystalline
structure, we have within us, blending both the mind and heart,
allows us to focus our thoughts with different people in different
groups around the world and achieve remarkable results. For example,
people of today are being rallied through the Internet to go and
protest against numerous injustices. In today’s world, this is
happening remarkably fast. We’ve seen this happen with WTO meetings
from Seattle to Washington DC to Cancun. Its happening with visiting
a Heads of state, e.g. President Bush in London. All the major soul
groups, such as the communicators, the politicians, the financiers,
the people of the religious establishments, regardless of station
are all coming alive and publicly identifying that which is askew
within their group and humanity at large and taking action to remedy
the situation . It will take time as it is a process, but as much as
we become conscious of our thoughts and the love that we hold for
humanity, we stand at a nexus. Whether we are on the periphery or
center of these groups, we work and contribute our own energies and
our focused hearts and minds as a “living sphere of
influence”. We become an overshadowing presence. We become
entities working in the background to firm up the foundation of
changes rapidly occurring in our world. This is our current purpose
and destiny.
When we transcend our
limitations and stand with our hearts and our thoughts clear and
focused, our crystalline structures become transmitters of pure love
and pure thought. This very action is creating and maintaining a
grid network around the planet that connects with others of like
mind and heart and strengthens the similar concepts and ideas and
wishes for transforming our world from darkness to light.
The Christ or grid
network that Drunvalo talks about in the Flower of Life
books, is located a certain distance above the Earth and is only in
danger as much as we loose faith, and despair. There’s a great deal
of tension and difficulty in the world today, in every culture,
every nation and every government, and down to the average person in
his or her lives. We must find ways of seeing beyond this limited
thinking by thinking outside of ourselves. Putting our minds and our
hearts together, can create the energy of wisdom. Neither the mind
or the heart alone cannot separately resolve the problems. The time is upon us to unite
the two together.
When the mind and the
heart are mixed together with clear intent, there’s an awareness
present that generates its own activity and allows one to fulfill
his purpose. This awareness is so directly connected with your
spirit and soul that nothing can dissuade you. This is the place we must
operate from so that we have clear intent, purpose and understanding
and from that is generated wisdom and knowledge.
The Ancients used their
temples as places to carry our their belief systems and their rituals and
ceremony. These temples were designed around sacred geometry as the
Ancients understood the harmony, energy and design in certain shapes
or objects. You also find these energies in the ancient cathedrals
and shrines in Europe, Asia and archeological places around the
planet where ceremony and initiation was performed. In reality, we do not need
these temples, or cathedrals, etc. or other “holy sites” to conduct
our prayers and meditations, but we can use their wisdom and
teaching that the Ancients practiced. The greatest temple of all is
within the human heart – where the mind and the heart are fused
together to make its own temple. And this temple is “the most”
sacred place where we consciously put one foot forward just as the
statue Sekhmet does.
Our purpose in the world
is not so much to create peace, although that will be a by-product
but rather to completely align all of humanity towards consciously
working with their minds and hearts. The natural outcome will be
goodwill, cooperation and initiation and peace will ultimately take
place too. We’ll see cultural and scientific exchanges, and we will
see from that point that war will disappear naturally. Once
cooperation and goodwill are established as universal principles
from which to conduct business, which are actions of the heart and
the mind awake, then we will work at the greater problems of
humanity, which are glamour and illusion. The first order of business
is to get our thoughts and our hearts focused together for creating
that different energy.
The Heart’s desire is
what we want not only for ourselves but also for our fellow brothers
and sisters and the environment. This is the true sacred temple
space of
today.
